Pastor Doug Vaughan

Doug Vaughan was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1962. Doug grew up in the small farming community of Grapevine, located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.

After graduating from Grapevine High School, Doug attended the University of Texas at Arlington where, in 1985, he graduated with a degree in sociology.

In order to pursue God’s call to ministry, Doug continued his education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He completed a master of theology degree in 1990 and finished a master of religious education degree in 1993.

In 1994, Doug and his family moved to Reno when he accepted the invitation to serve as the associate pastor of Steamboat Baptist Church. After an incredible year with Steamboat, Doug helped in the formation and start-up of Crosspoint Community Church. In 2000, Doug received the Doctor of Ministry from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

In his time away from work, Doug enjoys a variety of activities. He loves to read, play tennis, do yard work, hang out at Barnes & Noble, and bake desserts, especially cheesecake. Doug is also a big fan of “The Andy Griffith Show.”

Pastor Dale LaFrance

Dale LaFrance was born (1958) and raised in Livonia, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

After graduating high school in 1976, he served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in the spring of 1980, returning to Michigan until the fall of that year; then relocating to Reno, Nevada.

While serving in the Corps, Dale surrendered his life to Jesus on Christmas eve of 1979 while in Reno visiting his mom and stepdad.  Since that time Dale has pursued Jesus with an intense hunger. Dale received an AA in business management at Truckee Meadows Community College.  While attending a few different churches in the Reno area, Dale's leadership gifts allowed him to be a youth director at a couple of different churches, Steamboat Baptist being one of them.

When Crosspoint Community Church started up, Dale and his family joined them.  In 2005 shortly after Crosspoint moved into its current location, Dale was licensed to preach.  Dale also uses his gift of writing for the benefit of the body.  Currently Dale is tri-vocational holding two jobs outside of the church since 1990.

Dale enjoys the outdoors, especially camping anywhere around a lake where he can take his boat.  And he loves to share the fun with others.  He also loves to barbeque, read, and of course play with his dog Stanley.

  •      All the people will know it—Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—who say with pride and arrogance of heart, “The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.”  But the Lord has strengthened Rezin’s foes against them and has [...]

  •       “Immediately after the distress of those days “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”  At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations [...]

  •      I rejoice greatly in the lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me.  Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.  I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is [...]
