Who We Are

Our Story

Crosspoint Community Church was founded in 1996 with a simple vision: take the church to the people. From the beginning, we gathered in homes throughout the week for Bible study and met together on Sundays for worship, keeping our structure simple and focused on relationships and discipleship.

For many years, we worshiped at 2900 Mill Street. As God renewed our vision and directed our next steps, He led us to our current home inside Reno Town Mall. This location provides greater opportunities to engage our community, demonstrate Christ’s love in tangible ways, and share the hope found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What We Believe About Our Mission

We believe Jesus Christ died and rose again so that people can be reconciled to God. Because of this, we are committed to loving our neighbors, helping one another grow as disciples of Jesus, and sharing the good news of the gospel with our community and beyond.

Our Partnerships

Crosspoint Community Church cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Nevada Baptist Convention, and the Sierra Baptist Association. These partnerships allow local churches to work together in advancing the gospel, supporting missions, planting churches, and strengthening congregations both locally and around the world.

We are grateful to partner with like-minded churches as we seek to glorify God by making disciples and serving our community with the love of Christ.

Our Leaders

  • Lead Pastor, Carlos Orozco

    Carlos Orozco serves as the Lead Pastor at Crosspoint Community Church. He earned a B.A. in Bible and Theology with a concentration in Biblical Greek from Multnomah University and is currently completing his Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary with a focus in Theology. Carlos is passionate about faithfully teaching God’s Word, shepherding people through everyday life and struggles, and helping the church grow in spiritual maturity, discipleship, and mission.

    Carlos desires to see people encounter Christ, be grounded in Scripture, and live as faithful followers of Jesus in their homes, church, and community.

  • Elder, Doug Vaughan

    Doug and his wife, Debbie, deeply love the Crosspoint family.

    Doug moved to Reno with his family in 1994 to serve on staff at Steamboat Baptist Church. In January 1996, he helped launch Crosspoint Community Church and began serving as Lead Pastor in 2001, faithfully leading the church for many years before recently transitioning from that role.

    Today, Doug serves as the Area Missionary for the Sierra Baptist Association. He is passionate about studying and teaching God’s Word, seeks to honor Christ in all he does, and remains grateful to be part of the Crosspoint family.

  • Elder, Dale LaFrance

    Dale LaFrance was born on November 24, 1958, and is originally from Michigan. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years.

    During a visit to Reno, Nevada, in December 1979, Dale surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, he relocated to Reno, where he has lived ever since.

    Dale married his wife, Debbie, in 1982, and together they raised a daughter and a son. He earned a two-year degree in Business and has faithfully served the Lord through the local church for many years. As a member of Crosspoint Community Church, he was licensed to preach the Gospel on October 15, 2006.

  • Elder, LE Bailey Boydston

    LE Bailey Boydston is the retired Executive Director and CEO of Second Start Learning Disabilities Programs in San Jose, California. He also served as Executive Director of Urban Ministries of Palo Alto and has been instrumental in launching and developing several churches and nonprofit organizations across the United States.

    LE holds a B.B.A. in Business Management and an M.Div. with a focus in Philosophy and Theology. He is a certified family counselor, conference speaker, published author, and has spent decades helping churches and leaders serve their communities effectively.

  • Worship Leader, Derek Vaughan

    Derek serves as Crosspoint’s Worship Leader, leading the congregation in worship through music while playing guitar. His wife, Maggie, often joins him on piano when she is not busy keeping up with their three young children.

    Derek teaches mathematics at Wooster High School and enjoys disc golf, spending time with family, and serving the church. Maggie is actively involved in a local homeschool co-op and teaches piano lessons in addition to caring for their children.

    We are grateful for Derek and Maggie’s faithful service and thankful to have the next generation of the Vaughan family serving alongside us at Crosspoint.
